To ensure that your server is running the latest security updates, it is critical that you regularly login and run the following commands:

Debian / Ubuntu:
Code:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

To automate this process on Debian/Ubuntu, consider the package cron-apt

CentOS / Fedora:

yum update
